Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a restorative procedure in which natural tooth-colored resin is bonded to a tooth and cured with a blue light. The process is similar to veneers and crowns, but much quicker and less expensive to perform. It is a perfect method for making small cosmetic enhancements to your teeth. Bonding can typically be performed in a single visit to our Ithaca dental office, and can involve removing less original tooth structure than similar procedures. Bonding typically does not last as long, however, and can fall victim to staining as well. It is because this it will be used for smaller cosmetic cases, compared to major restorations.

How it's done:
Bonding typically takes between 30 and 60 minutes to perform, per tooth. First, your dentist in Sutton MA, Dr. Valente will find what exact shade your teeth are and select a resin that will blend naturally. The surface of the tooth will then be roughened a bit and coated with a liquid conditioner in order for the bonding material to adhere more easily to the tooth. Resin will then be applied to the tooth and cured with an ultraviolet light, with a finishing touch of shaping and polishing to ensure a good fit.
