Dental Veneers

Veneers are extremely thin, custom-made shell coverings designed for the front surface of your teeth. These natural tooth-colored shells can be used to improve the appearance of teeth that have been worn down over time, stained, or to improve size and shape of the teeth as well.

Types of veneers
There are two types of veneers that are commonly used. Porcelain veneers are more durable and resist stains better. The properties of the material also help to create a very natural tooth look. Unlike porcelain veneers, composite resin veneers are not made in a laboratory, but instead directly applied to the teeth. They typically have a shorter lifespan and are less expensive.

When should you consider dental veneers?
You can talk to your Dudley MA dentist about dental veneers if

  • Your teeth are stained or discolored
  • Your teeth are crooked or misshapen
  • Your teeth have spaces between them
  • Your teeth are broken or chipped

How it's done:

At least two visits to your dentist in Dudley MA's office will be needed to place your veneers. First, the teeth will be fitted and shaved down a bit so that they can accommodate the veneer. An impression will be taken to be sent to a laboratory to ensure the veneer is custom to your natural teeth. A temporary veneer will be placed by Dr. Valente in order to protect the tooth until your next appointment.

At your second visit, the temporary will be removed and the permanent veneer will be placed. It is difficult to adjust the veneer when finally bonded in place, so an accurate color and fit will be confirmed before it is finally committed to and adhered.
